MEET THE 2022-2023 LEADERSHIP TEAM


Ria Deshpande

Ria is an incoming senior at Dr. TJ Owens Gilroy Early College Academy (GECA). Her favorite way to spend time is by reading a good book while snacking on desserts, as well as spending time with her friends and family. She is very passionate about empowering the youth in her community, leading her to participate in numerous organizations that share similar goals. As a second-year member of the Young Women Leaders (YWL) Committee, Ria hopes to extend outreach to areas outside of the Bay Area

and increase its impact on more young women.

 


Kyla Spencer

Kyla is a senior at Ann Sobrato High School and a third year member of Young Women Leaders.  She loves to write and read in her free time, but also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.  She is a Girl Scout Ambassador and has cherished the opportunities she’s had to interact with her community and mentor younger girls. Kyla is very excited to be a part of YWL and to use her voice to raise awareness about climate change and social justice.  She is passionate about advocating for the issues she cares about and hopes to inspire others to do the same.

 

 


Stella Gaudy

Stella is a sophomore at Ann Sobrato High School. She joined YWL in 2020 and is grateful to be surrounded by young women who are helping the community. Stella plays soccer and runs on Sobrato’s cross country team. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, being with family, hanging out with friends, and painting. Stella is passionate about finding solutions to global issues like climate change and fast fashion. By joining YWL, Stella hopes to help solve problems she is passionate about and learn more from others around her.

 

 

 

 


Sofia Barreras

Sofia is a junior at Live Oak High School. She is a part of the Business side on the  Robotics Team (FRC 7528: Nuts and Bolts), plays soccer, and drums with Live Oak’s winter percussion group. She loves to be outside and try new things whenever she has the time to do so. Whether that includes biking, running, or spending time with her friends and family. And although this is her first year with the YWL Committee, she hopes to continuously learn to inspire those around her to develop and make smart decisions towards what they truly believe in to create a smarter, healthier environment.

Susan Kirchhoff

 

 

Susan is a junior at Live Oak High School. This is Susan’s third year of being in the Young Women’s Leader committee. They enjoy spending their time crocheting and baking. Susan is on their highschool cross country team and enjoys running. They joined YWL to become a more active member in their community and to help combat climate change.

 

 

 


 

 

Roma is a junior at Ann Sobrato High School. This is her first year being part of YWL and is very excited to be more active in her community and help create a positive environment around her. Roma is a part of her school’s tennis team, has been playing piano for the past 10 years, and plays flute for her school’s band. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.
